The Quran Verse
Surah 22:26–27:
And when We designated for Abraham the site of the House [the Kaaba]... And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]...
As seen in Surah 14, there is ZERO archaeological or scriptural evidence that Abraham EVER traveled to Mecca or instituted a pilgrimage there.
History shows the Hajj was an ancient pagan Arabian ritual involving the circumambulation of the Kaaba (which housed hundreds of idols) and the veneration of the Black Stone.
The Quran "rebrands" this pagan heritage as "Abrahamic" to make the transition to Islam easier for the Meccans. It is an act of religious appropriation rather than a recovery of lost history.
