The Quran Verse
Surah 25:7:
And they say, 'What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel to be a warner with him?'
The Meccans point out that Muhammad lacked the supernatural markers of a biblical prophet (like the miracles of Moses or Jesus).
The Quran’s response in verse 20 is simply that "all prophets ate food." This is a circular defense. It avoids the request for a confirming sign by normalizing the lack of miracles.
To the critic, this sounds like a leader who cannot perform wonders and must therefore redefine "prophethood" to mean "just a regular man with a message."
