The Quran Verse
Surah 26:49:
"[Pharaoh] said... 'I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all.'"
The Historical/Scientific Analysis
Crucifixion was a punishment developed by the Persians in the 6th century BC and later perfected by the Romans. The story of Moses and Pharaoh is set roughly in the 13th century BC (the Bronze Age).
The Critique:
There is absolutely no archaeological or textual evidence that crucifixion existed in Egypt during the time of the Pharaohs. In fact, the Egyptians typically used impalement or beheading.
To the critic, this is a glaring historical error—the author of the Quran projected a 7th-century understanding of "ancient punishments" onto a time period 700 years before the practice was even invented.
