The Quran Verse
Surah 29:14:
And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.
The Biblical Source
Genesis 9:29:
Altogether, Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.
While both texts agree on the number, the Quran expresses it as a subtraction problem (1,000 - 50).
Critics argue this phrasing reflects the oral, rhythmic nature of the Arabic text rather than a divine chronicle. More importantly, the Bible says he lived 950 years in total. The Quran says he stayed "among his people" (pre-flood) for 950 years.
If Noah spent 950 years preaching before the flood (as the Quran implies), and then survived the flood and lived longer, he would be significantly older than the 950 years recorded in the Genesis genealogy. This suggests a slight narrative confusion regarding the lifespan vs. the mission duration.
