Home > Surah 46 - The Wind-Curved Sandhills
In this verse, Allah commands Muhammad to challenge the polytheists regarding their alternative deities:
Surah 46:4:
Say, 'Have you considered that which you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth... Bring me a book before this, or a remnant of knowledge, if you should be truthful.'
Here, the Quran explicitly establishes the criteria for theological truth: prior written revelation and historical data ("a remnant of knowledge").
As a Christian, you accept this challenge. You bring the "books revealed before this"—the Old and New Testaments—and the "remnants of knowledge" (first-century historical manuscript evidence, the Dead Sea Scrolls, early church creeds).
These documents uniformly contradict the Quran on the identity, death, and resurrection of Jesus. By the criterion of Surah 46:4, Islam fails its own test because the prior books and historical remnants do not support it.
