Out of the 50 short verses in Surah 77, one single verse is repeated verbatim 10 separate times:
Surah 77:15, 19, 24, 28, 34, 40, 45, 47 and 49:
"Woe, that Day, to the deniers."
This line appears like a mechanical chorus after almost every short description of judgment or creation (at verses 15, 19, 24, 28, 34, 40, 45, 47, and 49).
From a text-critical perspective, polemicists argue this extreme repetition points to a severe lack of content and a reliance on emotional intimidation. Instead of building a coherent, logical theological argument or revealing deeper truths about God's nature, the Surah uses a repetitive rhythmic hammer to compel submission through fear.
It reads like the work of a human orator trying to fill space and maintain a rhyming scheme rather than an omniscient God revealing timeless truth.
