Mark 9:30–32:
They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.
Humans can foresee danger. Prophets can foresee events revealed by God. But no prophet predicts his own resurrection on a specific timescale. Only God knows the future with this kind of precision — and only God raises the dead.
Jesus again predicts his betrayal, death, and resurrection. This isn't a guess; it's the sovereign orchestration of the Divine Plan of which he is the central figure.
“Son of Man” - not a humble way of saying “human.” It is a title drawn from Daniel 7, where the Son of Man:
Jesus repeatedly applies this title to Himself in connection to His death and resurrection. Jesus is walking a path He Himself has chosen, in accordance with the Father’s will. Jesus acting with God’s authority, God’s knowledge, and God’s mission.
