The Quran mentions a lot of stories from Genesis without quoting directly as the New Testament does very frequently. This suggests that the author of the Quran did not have a copy of the Torah. (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy).
The Quran offers no other explanation as to what it thinks the Torah is which again suggests no copy to compare to and going by the Talmud, other non-inspired writings or oral stories at the time.
