In Deuteronomy 18:15–18: "The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me..."
Islamic apologists claim this refers to Muhammad, arguing that "brethren" refers to the Ishmaelites (Surah 7:157).
The context of Deuteronomy 18:1–2 defines "brethren" as the other tribes of Israel ("they shall have no inheritance among their brethren"). Muhammad was not from the "midst" of Israel, nor was he "like unto Moses" in the Biblical sense (interceding face-to-face with God, performing signs in Egypt, and being an Israelite).
