This is the shortest chapter in the entire Quran, containing only three verses.
The text lowers the majesty of universal scripture to micro-manage a personal, insulting insult thrown at Muhammad by his contemporaries.
Surah 108:3:
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off. (In Arabic: Inna shani'aka huwa al-abtar)
The Structural Flaw: According to all classical Islamic traditions (Ibn Kathir), this surah was revealed because a Meccan opponent (Al-As ibn Wa'il) mocked Muhammad after his infant son died, calling him "Abtar" (a man cut off from male lineage, leaving no legacy).
To counter this personal insult, the text of the Quran rushes to reassure Muhammad that his enemy will be the one cut off instead. Christian apologists point out that true, timeless divine revelation does not stop the cosmic clock to issue a defensive, personal clap-back against a local 7th-century street critic who was mocking a preacher's lack of male heirs. This exposes a human, deeply defensive origin.
