The Quran mentions FOUR previous divine writings from Allah called:
| Name | Quranic References | Quranic Identity |
|---|---|---|
| Scrolls of Abraham | Surah 53:36–37 & 87:18-19 only | The Quran does not say the scrolls are lost; it assumes they are a known historical standard. There is ZERO historical evidence for their existence outside of the Quran. |
| The Torah | E.g. Surah 2:53 and 5:44 and many others | The Quran identifies Moses as the human recipient. It contains law and is an al-Furqan (the criterion to judge between right and wrong) |
| The Zabur | Surah 4:163; 17:55; 21:105 and 34:10. | Quran says it was given to King David. Surah 21:105 is almost word for word a quotation from Psalm 37:29. |
| The Injil | Surah 5:46-47 and many others | Quran identifies Jesus as recipient. Contains the agricultural parable of the growing seed in Surah 48:29. The 7th-century readers were commanded to judge by its contents. |
The Bible figures and stories mentioned contribute almost 25% of the Quran's content, but it seems oblivious to the fact that it has failed to paraphrase accurately from the earlier originals. These are split into Old and New Testaments in links below.
The Quran gives NO explaination about these writings which suggests that NONE was required as it was obvious to the audience and if in doubt they could ask Christians.
Surah 10:94 - So if you are in doubt, about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you.
